For nearly every year since 1916, the First Church in Jaffrey (FCiJ) has held a Church Fair on the first Wednesday of August from 1 PM to 4 PM. This great community event takes place inside the red brick First Church, in the Meetinghouse and in the Horsesheds. Antique and bargain seekers, people hoping to find just the right piece of art to suit them, people with a sweet tooth, and children of all ages flock to the Jaffrey Common and its historic buildings to enjoy an afternoon of fun and surprises, all in support of several community charities as well as scholarships for several Conant High School Seniors and the church.
As of June 15th, FCiJ is proceeding with plans to continue this long tradition and will follow the town’s guidance about safety precautions. The various venues this year will be Antiques, Primitives and Collectibles inside the Meetinghouse, Art in the Church Sanctuary, Bakery in the Parish House, Glitz and Glamour (such as jewelry) in a tent, Garden plants, vases, and small furniture on the Common, Electrical Equipment in a tent, and the popular Children’s Fair in the Horsesheds. Volunteers from the whole community help to run the Fair and if you wish to be one of this group of enthusiastic volunteers, please call Bruce and Pam Hill at (603) 593-5061 or by email at bwhill1947@gmail.com or philloncapecod@gmail.com. Stay tuned for more information about this event.
A special and new feature this year will be “Pies for Sale” made by volunteers under the leadership of Pam Hill. They will be sold every Friday between 2 and 5 PM at the church. For more information about baking pies or buying them, please contact Pam at the above number or email. As with the Fair proceeds, more than half of the profit from the sale of the pies will go to community charities.
